 Deepwater Anchorage whilst en route from Vlissingen to Moin,Costa Rica

SPIRIT OF ADVENTURE

20 / 58,250gt 1000 pass owned by Saga Group,UK.She was bound from Brest

to Southampton with a call at Guernsey but didn't stay there.So then she crossed

 the Channel and took the scenic route around Lyme Bay. She passed Berry Head 

about 4 miles out in the haze this afternoon.

Norway and is on a 13 day Round Britain cruise from Dover.She arrived in Dartmouth this 

morning in drizzily rain from the Isles of Scilly and is seen about to turn by the higher ferry,

 being escorted back down river by the pilotboat and tug Prince Rock.and mooring in

92 / 2183gt 112 pass Ex Sarpik Ittuk 07. She is owned by Fleetpro Ocean Inc,USA and

chartered to Noble Caledonia,UK.She arrived in Dartmouth this morning from St Helier

 and will sail for Plymouth.

05 / 83,781gt 2556 pass.She was the last cruiseship to leave here 13/10/2021.Today she

arrived in Torbay on a drop in visit with no passengers on board.She had come from 

Southampton and will stay until Sunday, she is due in Southampton Tuesday and sails

again that day.Due to staff shortages and redeploying staff to other ships in the fleet

she is not going to cruise again until 5th July.She left on the Sunday 24/4 but only as

 far as Portland where she is alongside.

She is a 2010 replica of a 1776 Customs Lugger with 3 masts and sets 8 sails.She is

operated by Grayhound Ventures of Truro and she had come from Falmouth and was

 anchored in Jennycliff Bay.

Leaving this morning after her visit, destination unknown.She had 3 tugs in attendance

SD ADEPT bow tug,SD FAITHFUL stern tug and SD EILEEN portside escort.

She is operated by  the US Military Sealift Command and had come from Hunterston and 

was coming into Devonport for the weekend.She is seen entering the Sound with the bow 

tug SD Careful and stern tug SD Adept but 10 minutes later as she passed the eastern 

entrance a fog bank rolled in and the pilot could not see where he was going so he stopped

 the ship and he was afraid that the fog would roll into Devil's Point so in zero visiblity the 

tugs turned her and she headed  back out to sea and is now due in 0530 tomorrow.The

 second picture was taken when she was stopped, the fog lifted but seconds later she 

disappeared from view not to be seen again.

Today for the first time ever 2 ONE containerships piloted at the sametime at Brixham

both boarded  deepsea pilots and were bound for Rotterdam.

 Line and aquired by United States Military Sealift Command in 1988 and converted 

to a Gopher State Class Auxilairy Crane Ship with 2 twin 30 ton cranes and now has

 capacity for 710 teu.She is part of the Ready Reserve Force and is operated by

 Interocean American Shipping Corp.She had come from Varberg,Sweden and 

was landing her deepsea pilot at Brixham.I have seen her before boarding a pilot 5/2/94.

 part of the Ready Reserve Fleet being home ported at Baltimore.She was bound today

from Vlissingen to Baltimore when she landed her deepsea pilot at Brixham.As far as I

know she has only been here once 24/4/1994 when I took pictures of  her from Berry

 Head as she landed a pilot.I think that there were only 2 ships ever built to this Polish

 design the other was Hual Trader now Cape Wrath.

NYK Demeter.She was bound from Antwerp to Besiktas,Turkey when she landed her

 deepsea pilot art Brixham today.At Bresiktas she will be drydocked, repainted in Maersk 

colours and renamed Maersk Tennessee.
